One of the great things about living near a coast is seafood. I couldn’t move anywhere that didn’t have easy access to good fresh seafood. Thankfully the DC area has the Chesapeake Bay right next door! What does that mean? CRABS!

I’ve happened upon a treasure of Fairfax, VA via one of my past friends. She introduced me to Captain Pell’s Fairfax Crabhouse. What a PERFECT setup. You walk in, find a table with fresh brown paper over it, and get ready to dig in. The menu has several things on it, including Alaskan crab, sides, and some stuff I never paid attention to (why would you?). Needless to say you should come here to eat Maryland blue crab. Period. You order a dozen (13) crabs and VERY soon after the freshly steamed crustacean is delivered to your table COVERED in old bay-esque seasoning.

Now the southerners here might be thrown for a loop at the table when they don’t deliver any butter with the crabs. You have to order it separately here, but you can’t blame the yanks for discovering an equally good dip: vinegar and old bay. Both are great in their own right and I definitely suggest the yanks try the butter and the southerners try the vinegar. Tasty delicious!

Now I will warn you, this meal will set you back a cool bill for two. Crabs ain’t cheap, but they’re DAMN good! And for you pansy-assed guys that date prissy women: the crabs are served WHOLE. You get the meat yourself. Mmmm…only way to serve’m IMHO.

(Sorry about the lack of pics, by the time I started thinking again (seafooddoes that to me) my hands were COVERED in crab. Next time!)
